“You’ve not experienced Spain until you’ve been to Toledo” So there we were, concluding the first season of #TheDayTripShow by taking a day trip from Madrid to Toledo, Spain which is just one hour by train. After reaching the medieval Spanish city, we opted to walk around Toledo’s streets to get a better experience of this trip. We took a tour of Toledo by walking around the various corners, passing the Toledo Cathedral, exploring various instagrammable spots in this beautiful Spanish town! We also found out that Toledo is known for making swords since the time of the Roman Empire and even now for films like Gladiator, Game of Thrones and Harry Potter wands. Did we enjoy it? Watch to find out. Get your fluency book here: https://www.tofluency.com/book (it's FREE to download!) KEY PHRASES FROM THE LESSON: 1. IN 2010 MY WIFE AND I DECIDED TO MOVE TO AMERICA (00:24) ‘To move to…’ generally means to relocate one’s home, in this instance, the two people have chosen to relocate their place of residence to America. Example: ‘I am moving to Barcelona for a year to practise my Spanish.’ 2. WE DECIDED TO SAY GOODBYE TO SPAIN BY TAKING THIS AMAZING CAMPING TRIP (00:32) In this example, the concept of saying goodbye is more metaphorical than physically leaving and telling the country “Goodbye”. In this way, it is used more as an indication for celebrating or commemorating an event upon (or just before) leaving. This can be used in both positive and negative settings, but the overall feeling to the phrase is positive. Example 1: ‘When Jane got a promotion, she went out for drinks as a way of saying goodbye to her old salary.’ Example 2: ‘Dearly Beloved, we are gathered here today to say goodbye to our dear friend Robert; may he rest in peace.’ 3. WE HAD NEVER BEEN TO SALAMANCA BEFORE (00:48) This is an example of the pluperfect tense in English. This describes an anterior action, prior to another past action. In this example, it is implied that the speaker has visited Salamanca, assumingly on his last holiday. However previously, before the speaker went on holiday, they had never been to Salamanca. This way of speaking is just a very English way of saying “We went to Salamanca for the first time”, this would generally be followed by an opinion. Example: ‘We had never eaten crêpes before we went to Paris.’ Simplified: ‘When we went to Paris, we ate crêpes for the first time’4. AFTER LUNCH WE MADE OUR WAY TO ASTURIAS (01:54) To ‘Make my/your/our/their way…’ somewhere, means to travel to that location. This is an informal and familiar way of saying “we travelled to somewhere”. This is a useful phrase if you want to diversify your language and to stop using the phrases “I went…”, “I travelled” etc. Example: ‘After serving the last customer, I made my way to the staff room for my lunch break’5. I AM QUITE STUBBORN. SO, I SAID LET’S GO A LITTLE BIT MORE AND SEE WHAT HAPPENS (02:17) In the first small sentence, the speaker is saying that they are stubborn, which means they don’t give up on things easily. ‘Going a little bit more’ just implies that the speaker is telling the listener they should continue with their task for a while longer. To ‘see what will happen’, is just a phrase which signifies uncertainty, but with an edge of optimism. In other words, you are uncertain of the outcome of a situation, but you hope it will be good. Example 1: ‘My mother is so stubborn! Even when I showed her the answer on Google, she still thought she was correct!’ Example 2: ‘You want to get to the museum? Ok, if you go a little bit more down this road and then turn right, you should be able to see it.’ Example 3: ‘We offer pay rises every six months but we will have to see what happens between now and then.’ ************** ENGLISH FLUENCY PROGRAM: My program gives you the method that will dramatically improve your speaking, grammar, and pronunciation and the materials you need to follow this method. Cornerstone Church's annual mission trip to Honduras delivers much needed school supplies and plenty of smiles. "We help with vacation bible school and bring down school supplies to help kids. We spend time with the kids, love them, have a great time," says Christy Michelli, who has gone on the mission trip five times. Michelli is a teacher at Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion school and uses her background in Spanish and education on the trip. "I always ask teachers what do you need and I try during the year to find out what they need and bring it back down." Students are usually a part of the trip and assist with vacation bible school and projects at the school and church. This year some students who had attended Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion used their knowledge of Spanish to be a translator. "When I said hello to them in Spanish, they were like wait you speak Spanish," says Martin Michelli, who is Christy's son and attended the trip for the first time. "I was translating a lot for other people because there's only five of us who used Spanish," says Madeline Carlson, who also attended the trip with her mom, Heather. Madeline's language skills were a point of pride for her mother. "It was amazing," says Heather Carlson. "We don't speak Spanish at home so to see her using it to her fullest potential was really awesome." The church in Crystal has partnered with a church and school in Honduras for the past 11 years. Some families sponsor a child to go to school. Each year a highlight of the partnership is the annual mission trip where church members go to Honduras to work with the school and church there. "The kids are so excited for us to be there. They'll never forget us being there," says Madeline. I promised this video to my Spanish teacher almost one year ago. I finished it about a week after my trip, but like the procrastinator that I am, it's taken me this long to finally upload it. It was such a fun, cultural experience on the Gateway Clipper. We also got to take in some sights of our city. Overall, a wonderful night. I encourage, anybody who has the opportunity, to take it! - I hope you all enjoy this (really late) video! - subscribe/like! :~)

Our first trip together out of country and it sure was a wonderful time in Barcelona & Madrid in the beautiful country of Spain. (Take note, this is our first video and it is definitely an amateur one, but kudos to Adrian for an awesome video that we can always look back to and remember our fun times!) FYI: we had no knowledge that they actually kill the bulls in bullfighting. It is difficult to watch & it's something I think that should not be encouraged because it is sad for the animal and also people die as well.

This is a video I put together last year - one of many in our archives, so to speak, of a short trip I took Risa on for her birthday. During the entire journey there, she kept trying where we were headed (it was a surprise destination - we were staying in southern Spain at the time). The editing is far from ideal- and unfortunately a lot of the footage from this trip was lost when one of my backup hard drives crashed. Nevertheless, I hope some of you will enjoy what footage remained. Occasionally I'll upload some of our older movies from our many years bouncing around the globe- this is one of them. PS. I hope you guys don't mind the music in this one - both Risa and I have very diverse tastes, enjoying everything from classical, jazz, 50s/60s rock n' roll, to 80s pop, new retrowave (it's a new thing), with a special place in our heart for melodic hard rock, AOR, and metal. Songs used in this video (in order of appearance): FM 84 - Outtatime (2016) Treat - Take me on your wings (1987) Creye - Desperately Lovin' (2018) Gear we use: Mavic Air Drone: https://amzn.to/2NxIeFm Sandisk Extreme 128GB Card https://amzn.to/2QgjJuS Mavic Air Batteries https://amzn.to/2MY5j4x Sony FDR-X3000 https://amzn.to/2wUHPSY Sandisk Extreme PRO card https://amzn.to/2oXdIa1 Copyright/Credits: All video footage is under copyright to it's rightful creator. Please do not copy or distribute in part or whole without my permission. Music copyright belongs to their respective owners and used under YouTube's standard license. Edited using Kdenlive (Linux) About Us: I'm PJ. My partner, inspiration, trainer, chef, and moral compass, Risa, are what we (reluctantly) refer to as, digital nomads. I say, reluctantly, as I've been living the digital nomad lifestyle for about 15 years now (long before the term was coined, and became the cheesy trend it is today. It seems that everyone these days on vacation with a laptop, a pina colada next to them, Avicii on their headphones, and a dozen memory sticks filled with selfies now considers themselves a (don't forget the hashtag) digital nomad. I started out at age 19. I quit my job at the time, to focus on the then still relatively unknown arbitrage business model as applied on eBay. Long story short, I saw an opportunity, invested all I had in it (time + money) and by my early 20s, I no longer had any interest in returning to Canada (where I grew up). I bounced mostly around Asia, for many years (all the usual nomad hotspots: Thailand, Vietnam, S. Korea, Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, with a preference for Japan (lived all over Japan, from Tokyo, to the most remote Japanese islands in the Pacific). In late 2013, one of my returns to Tokyo, I met a captivating young woman, Risa, who helped me to re-calibrate my high-flyin', rock-star lifestyle and regain focus. Within a few months of meeting, she elected to quit her job in Tokyo and joined me on this nomadic journey. This channel, will document our perpetual traveller lifestyle. It's not always easy, it's not always fun. There are highs and lows. Sometimes money is very tight, other times it seems like it's the least of our worries. But when done right, the digital nomad lifestyle is a journey unlike any other. Over the last few years, we generally stay off the beaten path and instead venture into areas seldom spoken about in digital nomad circles. You won't see us visiting Bali, Saigon, or Bangkok. Been there, got the SIM card, and still feel a bit hungover. As we travel, we focus on personal growth, on disconnecting, unlearning, and thus thriving. We attempt to engage in philanthropy when we can. We respect the cultures kind enough to allow us to visit their land and their homes. Feel free to send us feedback, comments, suggestions. Thank you for taking an interest in our journey. More videos of exotic places, stories, and people, will be uploaded weekly. As a demonstration of my gratitude to you for taking an interest in us, I will continue improving the quality of the content I create for you on a regular basis. http://www.engvid.com Are you going to travel? Make sure you're prepared with the vocabulary you will need for your business trip or vacation. In this lesson, I'll teach you the English vocabulary you must know for travel -- from preparing your travel itinerary and making reservations, to getting your visas and boarding your flight. It is essential that you know this basic English travel vocabulary, because English is an international language. ESL students who are studying abroad will find these words very helpful. Even if you are not travelling to an English-speaking country, as a tourist, you will need to communicate with people at the airport, and at tourist attractions. Watch this lesson, take the quiz, and have a safe trip! http://www.engvid.com/english-travel-vocabulary-planning-a-trip/ TRANSCRIPT Hi. Welcome again to www.engvid.com. My name is Adam. Today, I'm talking about a very interesting topic because, for example, in Toronto right now, it's very, very cold. I'm thinking about travelling; I would love to go somewhere hot to get away from this winter. So, when I travel, I have, of course, to make travel arrangements. So here, we have a list of words, a list of things that you must think about before you go on a trip to a different country. We're going to go over each of these. We're going to start with "booking" and "reservation". Now, many people think that this is more or less the same, which it is. To book something or to reserve something means to keep a place, to keep your place. You book a flight, you book a hotel room. Generally speaking, you make a reservation at a restaurant; you make a booking with a travel agency or with a hotel, with accommodations, any type of accommodation. Speaking of, accommodations are hotel, motel, hostel, B&B, bed and breakfast; all kinds of accommodations. Make sure you have a booking before you go, so your place is safe, it's kept for you. When you arrive, it's all good. Next, when you're at your destination, the place you're going to, you might want to "rent" a car. Okay? Sorry, this is accommodation. One thing I wanted to also make sure - "accommodations", without the "s", "accommodation" means something different. Okay? "Accommodations" is where you're going to sleep. And you might want to "rent" a car. You can also "hire" a car. Means the same thing. British people generally use "hire" more, North Americans use "rent" more often. Next, you have to think about your "baggage". Suitcase, luggage, bags, anything you're carrying with you. You might have "check-in baggage". Sorry, I don't know if you can see this guy. "Check-in baggage" and "carry-on baggage". "Check-in baggage" means you give it to the airline, they put it under the plane, you pick it up at your destination. "Carry-on" means you carry on, so you carry it on your shoulder on to the plane. Okay? In your carry-on, you have to be careful, it has to be small. You can't have liquids because of security and all that stuff. So things that you can't put in your carry-on, you must put in your check-in baggage and give to the airline. Next, when you get to the airport, assuming you're flying, you will have to do a few things that concern the word "boarding". Before you board your plane, get on your plane - you will get a boarding pass that lets you pass through security and into the airport. On the boarding pass, you will see your "boarding time", this is when you get on the plane and your "boarding gate", the place in the airport where you're going to get on your plane before takeoff. Okay? We can also use this for a train. You board a train, you get a boarding pass with a boarding time, and generally a boarding platform. Okay? So "boarding", getting on your vehicle, whatever vehicle that might be. You will also generally need to get a "visa" to many countries. Now, a "visa" is something that you use to get into a country, it gives you permission to stay in that country. But be aware: many places, if you're going through another country... So, for example: I'm going to country "C" via country "B". "Via" means by way of or through. So I might need a "transit visa", means I can go there, switch planes and keep going on my journey. But I'm still in another country, I need a transit visa. Excuse me. Also, make sure you're prepared to spend money as soon as you get to your destination. If you're going to a different country, that country will but using a different "currency", type of money. In Canada, we have Canadian dollar. America has American dollar. Okay? For things like that. In Europe, you need the euro. So make sure you have some of the currency before you go, or purchase it at the airport or at the destination you're going to.

Had the day off, took a quick trip to the coast...it was peaceful. Got to take my Evo X and drove part of the 17 mile drive. Spanish Bay was the destination since I wanted to get some photos of le car and the ocean in the back. Met a nice older couple there, turns out the guy is an owner of a local spa in the area (Spa on the Plaza.) He said he'll hook it up next time so we'll have to check it out the next time we're out that way. Enjoy! Please sub for more! This vlog includes me going to Barcelona, Seville, and Gibraltar! I had such a blast in Spain mostly due to the amazing food, weather, and friends I met along the way. In this video I take a quick pause and talk about how you can begin to start planning your backpacking trip. I have received a lot of Facebook messages, Instagram DMs, as well as text messages asking me questions on how I've been traveling so I thought including it was important. Anyways, I hope you all enjoyed the video and as always if you liked it don forget to give it a like :)

Spain & Portugal trip 2016 - Spain tourism & Vacations - Portugal tourism & Vacations 2016 Travel Videos HD, World Travel Guide http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=World1Tube Spain tourism & vacations 2015 https://youtu.be/I3OASd6VXIc Spain is a diverse country sharing the Iberian Peninsula with Portugal at the western end of the Mediterranean Sea. It is the country with the second-largest number of UNESCO World Heritage Sites, after Italy, and the largest number of World Heritage Cities. Spain is considered an exotic country in Europe due to its friendly inhabitants, relaxed lifestyle, its cuisine, vibrant nightlife, and world-famous folklore and festivities. Among many places worth visiting are Spain's thriving capital Madrid, the vibrant coastal city of Barcelona, the famous "Running of the Bulls" at Pamplona, major Andalusian cities with Islamic architecture, like Seville, Granada and Córdoba, the Way of St. James and the idyllic Balearic and Canary Islands. See ================ The most popular beaches are the ones in the Mediterranean coasts and the Canary Islands. Meanwhile, for hiking, the mountains of Sierra Nevada in the south, the Central Cordillera and the northern Pyrenees are the best places. Itineraries Via de la Plata Route Historic 800km route from Gijón to Sevilla. Way of St. James Historic cities ========== Historically, Spain has been an important crossroads: between the Mediterranean and the Atlantic, between North Africa and Europe, and as Europe beginning colonizing the New World, between Europe and the Americas. As such, the country is blessed with a fantastic collection of historical landmarks - in fact, it has the 2nd largest number of UNESCO Heritage Sites and the largest number of World Heritage Cities of any nation in the world. In the south of Spain, Andalusia holds many reminders of old Spain. Cadiz is regarded as one of the oldest continuously-inhabited cities in western Europe, with remnants of the Roman settlement that once stood here. Nearby, Ronda is a beautiful town situated atop steep cliffs and noted for its gorge-spanning bridge and the oldest bullring in Spain. Cordoba and Granada hold the most spectacular reminders of the nation's Muslim past, with the red-and-white striped arches of the Mezquita in Cordoba and the stunning Alhambra palace perched on a hill above Granada. Seville, the cultural center of Andalusia, has dazzling collections of sights built when the city was the main port for goods from the Americas, the grandest of which being the city's cathedral, the largest in the country. Moving north across the plains of La Mancha into Central Spain, picturesque Toledo stands as perhaps the historical center of the nation, a beautiful medieval city sitting atop a hill that once served as the capital of Spain before Madrid was built. North of Madrid and an easy day-trip from the capital city is El Escorial, once the center of the Spanish empire during the time of the Inquisition, and Segovia, noted for its spectacular Roman aqueduct which spans one of the city's squares. Further north in Castile-Leon is Salamanca, known for its famous university and abundance of historic architecture. Galicia in northwestern Spain is home to Santiago de Compostela, the end point of the old Way of St. James (Camino de Santiago) pilgrimage route and the supposed burial place of St. James, with perhaps the most beautiful cathedral in all of Spain at the heart of its lovely old town. Northeastern Spain has a couple of historical centers to note: Zaragoza, with Roman, Muslim, medieval and Renaissance buildings from throughout its two thousand years of history, and Barcelona with its medieval Barri Gòtic neighborhood. Visitors should be aware of the limited hours and likely entrance fees at many historic Spanish churches. With entry fees averaging €8, families will need to take the expense of religious sightseeing in Spain into account. Another important consideration when planning your trip to Spain are the limited hours of access to Spanish churches. Unlike neighbouring countries Italy, France and Germany, churches in Spain are only open for mass once or twice a day and thus, only open to the local worshipping population. While large cathedrals are open all day, these only represent some of the significant christian legacy of Spain. When combined with the high entry prices and bans on photography levied against you to visit most of the large cathedrals of the country, a trip to Spain to indulge yourself in Christian history can be challenging.
